About
Ride Days
It all
about having fun, the opportunity to ride without oncoming traffic
and other surprises we find on the road at times. Riding as fast
as you want, exploring you and your bikes limits, and without the
risk of loosing your licence.
You'll Need
to get
yourself and your motorcycle to the track;
wear the appropriate clothing - helmet, gloves, boots, full length
trousers and protective jacket;
Join the club - annual fee of $40;
Get your Motorcycling Australia Recreational Licence - $70 for 1
year or a one day licence for $25;
Sign Up - fill in and sign an indemnity form and pay the track fee
- $45.

How
It Works
Ride
days are run in sessions, groups are determined by experience and
machinery. Generally groups are:
- Novice
- for those new track, or if you prefer a slower pace
- Intermediate
- faster riders who are past the novice stage
- Fast
Road Rider - Sports bikes and experienced riders
- Racers
-
riders on race bikes.
Generally session are 15 to 20 minutes, usually getting 5-6 session
in a day. All new riders to the track start in the Novice group,
as you gain track experience you may want to move up to the intermediate
group, just ask one one the marshals if want to change groups.
Some Simple Rules
- Always wear your helmet,
even in the pit lane
- No overtaking on the
inside once in the braking area
- If you're slowing
to enter the pits, or for any other reason, raise your hand or
stick your leg out to warn other riders
- Pit Exit - when you
exit the pits look for traffic before you go onto the track.
Flags
- Red - Track
closed: don't go onto the track or slow down finish the lap your
are on and return to the pits
- White with red
cross -
course car or ambulance on the track
- Green - track
open: the track is clear to use
- Yellow - caution:
slow down, there is a crash or a problem on the track, LOOK for
liquid or debris on the track
- Black - Slow
down, finish the lap you are on and return to the pits and see
the marshal.
- Chequered -
Session
is finished: finish your lap and return to the pits.
Not all the flags listed
above are used, the organisers will explain the flags in use on
the day.
Before you ride
- ALL bikes are scrutinised
- checked over for basic control operations; brakes, clutch and
throttle, any fluid leaks or loose bits. (Note: if you have a
rack with a high back (i.e. Ventura), you will need to remove
the upper section.
- Remove the tool kit
from under the seat
- Rider are briefed
on the rules, flags and running of the day.
Some things worth
noting
- Your participate at
your own risk
- your insurance is
unlikely to cover and accident or injury on the track
- there is an ambulance
in attendance at Symmons Plains
- There is a canteen
open on the day
Spectators and family
are welcome - it's free, please supervise children. Pets are not
permitted.
