Honda VFR400 NC30
  Project - Track Bike:

Purchased a "rolling chasis" with a running engine for just over $2K. After much cleaning, a bit of rebuilding and purchasing some bits and pieces, mainly from the UK, I finally have a motorcycle that goes and is now ready for a few "little mods".
The pictures below probably tell the story better!

This is the bike, just after I picked it up from the shipping company, the rear brake was seized on. As you can see the chain is rusted, what you can't see is all the corrosion on the alloy parts. The rear wheel was also seized on the axle, took some heavy persuasion to get it off!
Rust on the subframe Close up of the chain, the hub was corroded and splintering in my fingertips, had to be replaced.
Front view with tank and seat removed, hard to see but the forks were all pitted and needed to be machined and re-chromed, actually I had them rebuilt, standard spring, higher spec fork oil. The right hand engine cover, that's silicone to stop the oil leak! Fortuanlty my brother-in-law got a couple of spare ones with his..cheers mate.
stripping down to just a motor and frame ..still stripping down, the standard silencer eventaully comes off, to be replaced with a race can.
Bit of change, race fairing painted up by good friend "Rosco" Ready for the track, sitting along side the brother-in-laws "fruit tingle". Many hours work put into both by "Ross "The Boss" Allison. + Much advice and direction.
The VFR on the right is for sale and can be seen at Ross Allison Motorcycles. (as at 7/12/06) or contact Jarrett on 0408 389 926

Mods so far:
race can, opened up the intake to the air box, and replaced the standard carby jets (115F, 118R) with 118F & 120R. Next step is to drill out the hole on the bottom of carby slide, from 2mm to 2.5mm. Apparently this increases the responsivness of the throttle, no change to power output.

Best time for me at Symmons Plain is around 1:15, I'm working on my corner lines, especially the Hairpin (Turn 4). I'm also a little slow through turn 6, which is at the end of the long right hand sweeper. Plus the chicane through turns 2 & 3 are a bit tricky, but with persistence I'll get there.
